Dear Blooms to Brews athletes and supporters,
We are extremely saddened to announce that we must cancel the 2020 Blooms to Brews event for circumstances beyond our control. We opened registration on good faith that we had the approval we needed to proceed with the 2020 event. Unfortunately, it has become clear that it will not be possible to host an event that will be a viable and safe event for our athletes.
Our team of friends and family have poured our heart and souls into this event. We started with the intention to get people healthy and fit and highlight the beautiful community of Woodland. When we lost our permit to host the event within the city limits of Woodland, we worked extremely hard to come up with a win:win solution to be able to continue this event in the community. We aren’t quitters and hate feeling like we failed our athletes. We are so disappointed that the obstacles have just become too challenging.
This weekend it became clear that we needed to cancel the event so we immediately started brainstorming solutions for our athletes. We currently have hundreds of athletes who have already registered and we never want the people who have believed in us over the years to have to suffer.
We called our friends at WHY Racing events and here is what we have arranged that we hope you will agree is a very generous and win:win solution for all.
We hope that being able to register for any of their 12 events will provide you ultimate flexibility and convenience to offset the registration for Blooms to Brews. As many of you know, we have already used funds for marketing and promotion so refunds are not possible. This arrangement with Why Racing Events enables us to provide you the value in return for your registration and belief in us.
We profusely apologize for putting our athletes in this situation. We would have never opened registration if we had thought we would have had to cancel the event.
We will continue to run and race in the community as so many of you are our friends for life.
Thank you in advance for understanding how challenging this is for us.
With great appreciation,
Elba Benzler, Get Bold Events
Get Bold Events would like to say “Thank You” to everyone who came out and participated in this year’s Resolution Run! The event, which was held on Sunday, January 5th, at Maple Grove Elementary School, was a great time for all! The Polar Bear Slip-n-Slide finish was a great success and we loved seeing so much plaid outfits at the race this year.
The day would not have been possible without all the amazing runners, volunteers, sponsors and supporters who were a part of the event. We are grateful for your support! Thank you to everyone for coming out and making this an event to remember. We are Bold!

Get Bold Events, a local race organizer in Battleground, will once again host a free Thanksgiving 5k and 10k River Run at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 28 at Hantwick Park, 23100 N.E. Hantwick Road, Yacolt. The race is on a paved trail with views of the Lewis River.
Race organizers are requesting that attendees bring canned food or monetary donations for the North County Community Food Bank.
“This is our way of giving back on the biggest running day of the year,” Get Bold Founder Elba Benzler Jr. said. “In the past we have donated over 900 pounds of food. We have a goal this year to donate 1000 pounds of non-perishable food.”
Post-race hot cocoa, cookies and music will be included. There will be no medals or timing, so that participants can focus on fun and fitness.
“Come out and help us reach this wonderful goal to help those in need this time of the year,” Benzler said.

Alexander Graham Bell said, “When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us.”
The Blooms to Brews Marathon had such a door closed and even though it was hard to look past the closed door we continued to search for the open door and found it.
Columbia Fruit, LLC. in Woodland, WA has graciously opened their facility to this Boston Marathon qualifying event, so it can take place on April 26, 2020.
The new location offers you onsite parking, plenty of room to accommodate many participants, vendors, medical and we have two driveways. The North driveway is for vehicle access and the South for the race.
As you come out of Columbia Fruit, LLC you will be greeted by the Columbia River on the Dike Road many of you are familiar with. All the courses are still on the flat, fast scenic roads you have always experienced. We adapted the courses for our new location, but you will love these courses like you always have.
We are working on updating the website. The updates will show you lodging, restaurants, coffee shops, pubs and wine bars, grocery stores and gas stations.
We are looking into lower cost lodging options and a social gathering event the night before which may be available due to the new location. This will be great for groups of participants coming in so they can all be together. Stay tuned as we continue this conversation.
Get Bold Events is looking into having showers onsite so anyone wanting to rinse off after the race can do so. Again, stay tuned as we work in this for you.
You can see we are making a few wonderful changes and this door may be better than the door that closed on us.
Register today and join us in 2020! This will be epic!
